when graphic meets architecture

Perhaps a question I've always been interested in... and one that I've always been quite cautious about. What happens when graphic art meets architecture? Can it escape the ornamentation boundaries it holds? Possibilities ppl! Possibilities! Its an exciting time to be alive (if you're interested in this kind of work)
Project To Surface looks to test these ideas and visuals concepts... Bah check them out! I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Its a comforting sight to see KAWS graphics on a Rhino interface haha~

Here is what the project is about...
Art and architecture collide on Madison Avenue. Project to Surface is a collaboration between five visual artists and an architect in rendering their visual concepts into three-dimensions through the use of cutting edge architecture software, fabrication tools and techniques. David Diao, Kenji Hirata, KAWS, Matzu-MTP and Leah Raintree will work with designer Ben Krone, a rising star in the architecture world, to create five large-scale sculptural panels.

Each three-dimensional relief surface is created using elaborate digital translation tools, such as Rhinoceros CAD software, and then converted into tooling paths and mechanically cut on a 3-axis CNC mill.

In applying advanced architecture tools and processes to project the artists’ visual concepts into three-dimensional relief, PROJECT TO SURFACE seeks to explore the possibilities and dangers of intersecting art and architecture.

Read another way, the word “surface” points to the emergence of the artists’ vision partnered with the architect’s hand, while revealing a series of narratives that document the dynamics of an exploratory collaboration.

The five finished panels and their prototypes will be exhibited in a gallery exhibition at m127, a new Madison Avenue development in New York City designed by SHoP. The exhibition opens June 28, 2007, and runs for two months.

and before i forget... for all the fellows out there with ladies to impress... its easy to do just follow these steps... this proof that anyone can print anything on a tee and sell it... its so easy a flaming monkey can do it with one hand while playing the banjo with the other.

You heard me. A banjo.

butterflies... hurricanes...and a deadline

Its cold... wet... and miserable here in Syd.
Times like this I'm glad I'm indoor (still in my pj) and with a heater on.

Not long to go now. Can't wait.

Ehhhh!!!!!!???......

sydney's best ramen

Thats a weighty title to bestow upon this humble ramen house... but its exactly what it is. Ryo's noodle is not your run-of-the-mill restaurant... no gimmicks, just soup and noodle cooked to perfection. To top that off they managed to marry my two of my favorites... jazz and ramen.
I always thought the two are made for each other.
Go! Ramen Go!
...and here it is. I had the standard ramen noodle in pork stock soup. Its perfect for a winter night. Yummm...!!!!

toy story

Hmm... do twenty-five years old play with toys?... Although this is worth hyping about. Japanese toy giant Bandai will release (above) figure by the end of June. The figure is very well detailed and true to its comic book design and specification. Looks to be a pretty sculpt on its facial features and expression. So should a twenty-five years old play with toys... I certainly hope so. (so geeking out right now.......)
