Crawl. Space.

Reach out (forward) with your right/left hand.

Be still.

close your eyes.
count to 10.

open your eyes.
Whats the first thought comes rushing?

look inside.
What do you see?

Stop this train for another minute.
Stop this world just for another second.

Retro

Wednesday basketball is now a weekly work-out. (often limping, dragging my reluctant feet onto the court) For an hour, I can focus only how to get to the basket (or not turn the ball over) and forget about everything else. Within that hour...

I dusted off the shoebox and packed these sneakers in my bag. "Wouldn't it be nice to play in them again..." I thought.

I laced them up, they were as comfortable as I remembered to my surprise. My shots and movement, slowly but surely getting more intuitive compare to months ago. I'm starting to enjoy the game again.

I often look over my shoulder to courtside where I left my bag and smile like I used to.

... huff and puff... resting my hands on my knees.

Squeaking sneakers and tired feet ran the length of the court ...

shot goes up.
levitate.
rattles the rim and out.

There and back again.

Ever get that feeling?

Nothing unusual.

Just a little older.

A kind of unsettling familiarity... but you kinda dig it at the same time.

(like spotting a white hair?)

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I don't know B-2..."

Can this really happen? It happens more often than one would think apparently.

How did a doodle I scribbled on work's drafting board in between joinery details and electircal drawings ended up a toy??
I modeled after a character "Cacutuar" (see: the game "Final Fantasy") ...played with its proportion and scale and made it a ninja. Only a handful of people had seen the sketches and even less had seen the digital version... There is now a toy made thats almost identical with the sketch !? ( I should also add that similar toy can be found in souvenir shops while departing from Kansei Airport...)

I'm sure it IS a coincidence (???) ( after all, its a very basic form made up of lines and curves - Just to throw something else into the mix - a straight line IS a curve! except without gradient/ curvature , hmmm...) but it did put things into perspective for me. The way information is distributed and how we communicate... and how many people out there are thinking of/ created/ drawn/ scalpted the same thing? and how many people out there are externalising these ideas and turning them into reality ? Process vs Product? etc...

But I guess what it comes down to is the creative process and the joy that comes with. That simple sketch put a smile on her face, and to me, theres nothing more rewarding than her smile and her laughter.

Lame?
Yea... I know.
But true :)

3:23 AM

My car is alot like a chapel that opens til late. I can always find peace when I get behind the wheel at night. We work well together, she looks after me as long I respect its limitation and know well its capability. (This may sound weird) In some way she understands me too, like it knows whats going on.
I do lots of my thinking in the car and on this particular night I needed some time alone. I found myself cruising without a particular destination.. just driving to no where, kinda like going for a walk. Crossed the bridge and back but didn't know when to turn around (but eventually I did). I parked the car at H&C Bay then turned off the engine...

Engine switched off.
Silence.
Inclined seat down.
Clear nightsky.
Blinding glow from the headunit.
Miles Davis Quintet playing...

... I think in some way she misses her too.

Relaxing with Bill, Tony, Miles, Coltrane and Eason

It’s been almost a week since I’ve been back in Sydney. Nothing feels quite the same... I clearly remember the moment when the wheels hit the runway tarmac and for the first time I think I actually miss being in Hong Kong, … or maybe I just don’t want to be in Sydney… I can’t quite put my finger on it but whatever it is this is where I have to be.

I bought 2 CDs this afternoon Tony Bennet/ Bill Evans Album and Relaxin' With The Miles Davis Quintet ... 2 for 25. Along with Eason's EP Life Continues..., some fine addition.

Good times.

More to come... maybe even something about the trip eventually
