...and so it is.

wow.
I made it through the entire November without one entry. I suppose now that uni commitment is over I will have a little more time to my own thoughts. So here we go...
With that said... 6 years of architecture school draws to a close as of yesterday. 6 years... 6 years... and I've become what I try so hard not to over the past 4 years. At the end of the day it was a huge weight lifted... a sign of relief but it is difficult to deny the slightest hint of disappointment in how things ended. I will truly be at ease when I find out if I indeed have made it through but for now the impending still keeps me from a good night sleep.
Maybe the differences are too great... maybe I thought about it too much... maybe I made a big deal out of nothing... maybe be x...y...&z... but this hurts. I almost forgot how bad it feels. How wrong am I.

a blog entry is pretty boring without picture... so here they are...

... flicking through old magazines I came across this iPod ad...in case you're wondering... thats the 1st gen iPod that holds 1000 song... at $895 aud. About half a year later I had my first 2nd gen for about $695 aud ... you know the rest, of cos.

... result of the months of sleepless nights.

odds

...must've been years since i last looked in these boxes.
They used to sell them at the news stand for the price of skipping lunch ... thrills wrapped in silver foil. Freshly pressed and cut... corners so sharp that would pierce the shirt pocket (but no one dares to try)... count down from first to the last and eagerly awaits for that 1:72 odds from lady luck. My fav was MJ, naturally, best ever... second to none. I once traded like some 300+ cards for one of MJ's to this kid in the same grade....

ahh... happy days.

Now... let me recollect my thoughts.

That seems to be something I seem to struggle with... being clear.

One thing i'm sure is peanut butter with honey on toast.

meow meow meow

hey whaddup ...
Been abit lazy with the blogging but, hey, better late than never, right? I personally have some doubt about that statement... when the moment is gone maybe its better never than late... so better be quick and play it smarter.
Wogwarts reopened yesterday and I'm back for my final semester and to be honest I'm already feeling the pressure. Little bit of pressure is a good thing... this time round tho theres a sense of urgency that I've never felt before... its feels a little crazy that five months from now it will be all over.

the curtis getaway challenge

First to 50km wins! (whats the prize D?)
The first challenge on the nike+... the battle between the silky-D and ERC begins here... see how long it will take us to do 50. This can potentially be the longest 50k challenge ever. Hah! Two lazy fat f$%... my prediction? Neither of us will get there...that was a joke... Hey Silky-D! eat my dust! dust eater !... anyone interested in joining just drop me a line :D

I've been riding high and feels like things are getting better all the time ,tho the semester kinda ended on a sour note but things are looking up! So I guess there ain't nothing to complain about... There are projects and whole lot more lined up over the break so the future looks bright! More on that later...

when graphic meets architecture

Perhaps a question I've always been interested in... and one that I've always been quite cautious about. What happens when graphic art meets architecture? Can it escape the ornamentation boundaries it holds? Possibilities ppl! Possibilities! Its an exciting time to be alive (if you're interested in this kind of work)
Project To Surface looks to test these ideas and visuals concepts... Bah check them out! I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Its a comforting sight to see KAWS graphics on a Rhino interface haha~

Here is what the project is about...
Art and architecture collide on Madison Avenue. Project to Surface is a collaboration between five visual artists and an architect in rendering their visual concepts into three-dimensions through the use of cutting edge architecture software, fabrication tools and techniques. David Diao, Kenji Hirata, KAWS, Matzu-MTP and Leah Raintree will work with designer Ben Krone, a rising star in the architecture world, to create five large-scale sculptural panels.

Each three-dimensional relief surface is created using elaborate digital translation tools, such as Rhinoceros CAD software, and then converted into tooling paths and mechanically cut on a 3-axis CNC mill.

In applying advanced architecture tools and processes to project the artists’ visual concepts into three-dimensional relief, PROJECT TO SURFACE seeks to explore the possibilities and dangers of intersecting art and architecture.

Read another way, the word “surface” points to the emergence of the artists’ vision partnered with the architect’s hand, while revealing a series of narratives that document the dynamics of an exploratory collaboration.

The five finished panels and their prototypes will be exhibited in a gallery exhibition at m127, a new Madison Avenue development in New York City designed by SHoP. The exhibition opens June 28, 2007, and runs for two months.

and before i forget... for all the fellows out there with ladies to impress... its easy to do just follow these steps... this proof that anyone can print anything on a tee and sell it... its so easy a flaming monkey can do it with one hand while playing the banjo with the other.

You heard me. A banjo.

butterflies... hurricanes...and a deadline

Its cold... wet... and miserable here in Syd.

Ehhhh!!!!!!???......

sydney's best ramen

Thats a weighty title to bestow upon this humble ramen house... but its exactly what it is. Ryo's noodle is not your run-of-the-mill restaurant... no gimmicks, just soup and noodle cooked to perfection. To top that off they managed to marry my two of my favorites... jazz and ramen.
I always thought the two are made for each other.
Go! Ramen Go!
...and here it is. I had the standard ramen noodle in pork stock soup. Its perfect for a winter night. Yummm...!!!!

toy story

Hmm... do twenty-five years old play with toys?... Although this is worth hyping about. Japanese toy giant Bandai will release (above) figure by the end of June. The figure is very well detailed and true to its comic book design and specification. Looks to be a pretty sculpt on its facial features and expression. So should a twenty-five years old play with toys... I certainly hope so. (so geeking out right now.......)

"Falling in love...eating...and going to the toilet..."

...Hold on. Before you close the window. Please. (YouTube is loading anyway...)
...Something to think about on your next long walk to work/home/park/train station/bus stop/corner shop/cafe/

In Richard Goodwin's word... this is what urban condition is about. Couldn't put it better myself.
Maybe not in a idealised manner but the urban condition is driven by connection to facilitate congestion: collision of time and events; points and lines meet; intersect; interrupt; break; merge; rupture then subside.
Virtually endless possibilities of 'becoming' for every corner and every intersection in a neon-lit hyper landscape. Stories of city love and urban heartbreaks echos the murmurs on every turn.

...next time on your way to work or walking home...just think about it.
...you may go back to whatever you were watching on YouTube.

Self-indulgence

There are lots of reasons not to like Monday...they even wrote a song about it.
I ,on the other hand, had a fantastic day. This particular Monday anyway... uni... life drawing... pepper lunch... then rum and raisin. Whats not to love? (so bite me haters!)
But this trend will not stick around for long though... hah.

Bought 2 new pencils couple of weeks ago (warm grey & sepia) for life drawing. Just thought I'd try something different. They take so time to get used to... maybe abit too hard for my liking. Also switched from A2 to my A5 sketch book ... so that took some adjustment too. Check it...

pics below...big ups to Julia for the little man from jp! it made itself at home hanging with my favorite usb stick... I finally got to use my JB giftcard (thanks Nat B) for some funky soulful tunes... Nina Simone... Marvin Gaye... and Charles Mingus!!!

100th post!!! Red Hot............

Breaking in my new pen...

...(PRODUCT) red nano

The 8 gig nano is mine at last! muhahah...
Love it (stop hating)! its 8 gig of fine tunes beneath a luscious scarlet aluminum case... yea yea yea part of the proceeds goes towards research to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria...but other than that, its pretty much the same as my old nano. You're quite right to think that this acquisition is almost unnecessary, but children are our future. And love makes the world goes round.
To find out more go joinred
Big ups to Derek for the pick up from Japan.

...CHILI PEPPERS @Sydney 19.04.07

Mild.
Expectation was too high??? Been a long tour?? Venue?? Maybe cos I had a block nose???
They are Rock gods but instead of thunders they brought drizzle, a few lightning and a cold front...Don't get me wrong, they put up a good show... just didn't blow me away like I expected them to...
A some thoughts to share... who is that fifth guy on stage?...Drummer looks like Will Ferrel... Am I the only one remotely disappointed that they didn't play "Get On Top"?

Happy Birthday to JP for turning 2-6... Best wishes...
BIG UPS... and REACT.

Demons

Call it what you will but everyone has good and/or bad habits... be it small and insignificant or otherwise, there is no denying it. Habits... you know it operates on familiarity or routine tendency... they are hard to give up. The bad ones especially hard to shake. I'm still trying to decide whether 'bad' habits are actually bad. Exorcise the demons on my shoulders ... the angels may leave too. I guess its like trying to quit smoking... (I don't smoke) Still struggling to come to terms with my own. (Note... you know you've grown attachment to it when you name them...)

COLDROCK

Probably has something to do witht the lunar cycles (well, I'm gonna blame it on the moon anyway for my new found sweet-tooth). Conclusion, Milo icecream and snickers chocolate doesn't really work together. I will continue my quest...

THE VILLAGE SESSIONS

Picked up a copy of 'John Mayer - The Village Sessions' over the weekend. The acoustic version of "In Repair" is fantastically depressing

Balancing act

It might just come down to that... finding the balance. If not, then that ought to be it.
Everything is in balance... or at least it should anyway... but often not.

Like balancing falling building blocks on a platform supported by a stem of flower... then it all come crashing down. But every now and then it finds its equilibrium either by precision or blind luck... then on a count to 3 you can finally let out a sigh of relief.

Off the topic... its been a month since my 25th but gifts are still filtering in. Its like that feeling when you put on a jacket and find a $50 dollar note in the pocket from the last time it was worn. :)

Thanks OG for the awesome 'The Flash' tee...

and while we're on superhero... here is a spidey money bank. (so geeking out right now...)

...and here is a snap of the Quay on a drizzly saturday night.
