life. drawing.

Lake house 2006... otherwise known as the "annual masters of the universe challenge and other stuff". Same place... around the same time of the holiday season... same crew, well, almost... minus Jordan this year. (I even updated my laker #8 to a #24... ) Just boozing and cruising...chillin' and bitchin' (I don't think people say that anymore?). Felt so removed from everything and i meant everything even though it was really an 1 and 1/2 hours drive. Haven't felt so calm and at peace with myself in a long time... or maybe it was the alcohol talking. I joke... I don't encourage drug uses and alcoholic abuse. ~ha!
Weather was a little unforgiving though... but that didn't stop us from getting into the cricket hype... clearly some of us been watching too much tv... and I found another reason for me not to pick up a cricket bat again. Clearly not my thing cos I look like a retard swinging that bat. ha. It finally cleared up on the day we were leaving.
So off to the jetty...

Below are some of the drawings from the past monday at Arthouse. Its really quite satisfying to be able to just sit and draw for an hour or two and nothing but that. There was a range of drawings there I noticed as I walked around between breaks. Some drawings are immaculate in details some are more expressive than others. Some are clearly new to it and you can really tell but best part is no.body.cares. If you suck then embrace that suckiness and suck with style. I've been telling everybody about these life drawing sessions but so far had very little (next to none) interested parties. C'mon people come for the booze and stay for the boobs! Erm....
Have to say I can really get use to this lifestyle...

Few more days to Christmas.
I really don't fancy this time of the year.

Close Encounters

9th Dec, 2006.
Robbie Williams Close Encounters Tour @ Sydney

He is. A singer. A songwriter. Above all, an entertainer.
I received the tickets many months ago. Anticipation and expectation was high.
Very high.
And he delivered.
There was tension in the air...cool air none the less... some people were getting quite touchy about their space... I just love cat fights... this time was a shouting match between two women who grew tired of each other's back... though no punches were thrown... I rocked 3-stripes (but not the Asics)... and the tour tee from last time Robbie played in Sydney... but nothing makes you feel your age then having two teens referring to your tee as "old school" and "vintage"... really. (my apologies goes to the one that stood behind me and her toes.)... occasional breeze meant I had constant supply of fresh air...I like oxygen..."Sneaky Sound System" kick started the crowd before Robbie rocked the Sydney stage... Connie Mitchell's vocal (think Jill Scott meets electro/ dance) was incredible riding high on dance beats... then purchases were made on iTunes when I got home... I often get my sunnies mix up with night vision goggles...he sang 'Back For Good'... My bad, its not cool to call them sunnies, apparently the word is 'stunners'... 'stunners'....'stunners'... 'Come Undone' and 'Feel' still my favorites... I missed you and the RW last tour we went to...Stage and effects looked awesome... all them pretty lights... I've got a bad habit of profiling people near me... he sang 'Back For Good'...unrelated note, apparently its difficult to make eye contact in conversations when one is wearing stunners with reflective lenses... all things in life is conditional... 'Monsoon' and 'Rock DJ' great for shouting...wish he did more swing numbers like 'Mr Bojangles'... he sang 'Back For Good'?...one of the best show I've seen... and I believe I'm not gonna see another one for a long time.

pics below... picture worth a 1000...so thats 6000. Go figure. (que "let me entertain you")...

new addition

say hello to 'zou san' which apparently translate to 'Mr Elephant' in japanese.
He might just be the most adorable soft toy. Ever. Maybe a little silly but I actually took it out on a field day. One look at it and a wave of 'awww' will follow. Sadly though zou san signifies something a little bit personal for discussion on the interweb. Its a longing... that without a doubt I'm going to miss someone but anyway I'm sure there are better things to dwell on...

Like the new CD i bought... new Eason's album, "What's going on...?" (definitely a question I've been asking myself lately...probably too much.) surely thats something to be excited about. Some good tracks to watch out...1...3...6-10. Ummm thats almost the entire album...hmmm.

On a totally unrelated matter, I received an email from my design tutor asking me to work up a few 'money shot' from the last project for the university's catalogue of studio work. I hate this time of the year where we play the waiting game... I'm not the only one (yeah i aware of that) but sucks... feel like a sitting duck. or a person. whatever.

pics below... riding with zou san... Eason's CD waiting to be imported.

what Sarah wants, Sarah will have

Sarah Blasko @Newtown

Sarah 'cute as a button' Blasko played at Newtown to promote her latest album. So its the Sarah I came to expect... captivating vocal...funky sounds...quirky dance (do the twist!). If you have yet to hear Sarah's work ...mm go look her up... or not. (See if I care.) I didn't understand a word she said in between songs... she mumbles to the mic with a tiny voice like a smitten kitten... its ok cos she is pretty. yes.

hmm... nike + iPod kit... music and sport , who would've thought !?...unlikely I'll run again this afternoon. Maybe wait for tomorrow morning for its first test. Anyone has the running kit ?? let me know if you do! Do the workout plan ! 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and...

[edit]

ok! so I couldn't wait to go for my first test run... if somehow i can download Dr Cameron's voice onto the iPod that would be great !!! but until iTunes offer that service the default voice will do just fine (HA!). Its actualy quite cool to have a "power song"... all went well until on the return I realised I lost the little nike button thingy... had to back track the route... and also found out that from here (home) to aunt's place is only about 2.8 km... Got to somehow fix the button on to my sneaker... suggestions anyone?

new

It was on cable news few days ago that I learnt that the old Star Ferry Piers will be removed to make way for a bypass and shopping mall. Many Hong Kongers bid mournful farewell to the city's icon. From the few times that I crossed the harbor on a Star ferry, yes, it was nothing short its place in National Geographic as one of "50 places of a lifetime". While it may resemble certain Vogon plan...it got me thinking...

Consider these, the notion of new, old and renewal.

Speaking of new...Congrats to the newly weds... Gordon and Lily. Wow...

"6"

6 days to hand-in. (More like 5 days) and pieces slowly (... too slow) falling into place...Must pick up the speed and work out on critical path. Its like design on diet. With my powerbook missing in action for past two days I was forced (but glad) to work more on the model, only to have it knocked back (but for good reason) To be honest, I'm scared out of my wits about how the semester might end, but I should come out on top.

Wish me good luck.
Or help me locate the other 6.

Plan B

Having so much trouble pulling this semester together... I ask myself everyday, every night "Do you want to get thru this semester?" Got into this funk and must get out before its too late. This headache and fever not helping either.

try something else... been listening to this dude Paolo Nutini. Check him out ... "last request" ..."these streets"... and the rest of the album.

Hopefully the next post will be of some good news.

Melted Wings

Daedalus & Icarus... who built wings which they attached to their arms with wax. But Icarus flew too high and close to the sun and his wings melted and he fell to his death.

Lost (auto)focus

[edit: 11/10/06]

Went to change my phone plan cos the old contract I was with is charging me ridiculous call rate (weird cos I don't make that many calls, and not many people calls me either)... action needed to be taken. So in affect, cheaper rate (hopefully translates to cheaper phone bill) and a new phone: K610i from Sony Ericsson. I sure am gonna miss my K750i for its auto focus guess I can always go back to my old. But this baby is 3G, so... movin' on up... video calls hmmm... not likely.

Drawings from the past Monday... on that note: babies and drawings in public... what do they have in common? They are like an invitation for strangers to come and start tellin their life story or random conversation about their favorite soda. Please. Anyway... just some good ol' sketches for illustration. Almost had my head chopped off when I told my tutor I was going to pull these pages out of my sketchbook -_-;

Enjoy.

Mobile

Some write signs and pleas. Some hassle passer-by. Most just stays out of the way (whose way? Really.) They dwell the city at there own pace. They smoke, they drink outside or under corporations canopy. Park bench. Backstreets. Some carries their life in a bag other more excessive they push theirs on a shopping trolly. (I asked this man if I could take a picture of his trolly and he was nice enough to let me snap away.) How many trollies will I need to fit all my 'stuff'? Yes - given his situation its easy to say that its not his making, sure, point taken - but I admire the level of clarity of what IS essential.
Pity? No. I envy them.
Why is he wearing a suit you ask? cos he is classy :)

Last week was the first taste of what is to come... the next seven weeks or so. Been physically, mentally bacnkrupt after many sleepless nights I was virtually a walking dead powered by red bull and caffine. Its drawing close to the business end of things not looking forward to it ... but BRING IT ON! The pic below quite adequately sum up my state after last week's struggle... IDIOTS!

I bought a lil mencessory for myself... probably paid more than what I would usually...but.....um... here it IS...

The Golden Ticket

[edit: 04/10/06]

Here is a rare glimpse at the production floor. I stayed up all night and painted two pictures for the pin up next morning... result was a surprise even to myself.

The break is over and it is quite possible that I have broken my personal record for laziness over the past week. When it all falls down its time to buckle down and get back to work. Sudden epiphany that I really must find a job...and fast.

Want some opinion on this one, Nike Dunk (Jordan III color) I'm 50/50 on this one *image taken from Provider ,Melbourne.

Pictures from the long weekend...
pics below...battle aganist the Heartless (and aunt for the tv)...picture from speeding vehicle...me & Claire... @equilibrim, birthday girl and co...@Manly from left: Ken, Carlo and apparently a zombie that looks alot like me...love is in the air... as was hooters.

Drawings and lilies

Color studies with w-colors... couple of them is a disaster... but not without any satisfaction.
I must admit this is easier than it looks...
The florist said it will last about 10 days plus... but in this kinda room temp... probably last only 7-8.

pic below... blossomed lily...
