...2nd cut is deeper

"Are those friggin' laser beam on friggin' sharks?" you say...
Well... minus the sharks and you have one nifty laser cutter. Though I must admit I was mildly disappointed when I first saw the machine in operation. I was expecting a crimson beam of concentrated energy generated by a machine that resembles some scale of a doomsday device (for evil doing, like in old Bond films, muhahah,) but instead it’s a crummy box no bigger than a foosball table with a laser beam that was hardly visible to naked eyes. Non the less it is an impressive piece of machinery considering that it came right out of our faculty budget… or the mDa department. (Masters of Digital Architecture, for those playing at home.)
This was my 2nd time using the laser cutter and it still amaze me the speed and control it is capable of. No doubt it opens up lots of possibility and efficiency in form making but it is only utilised by the post grads in mDa. Am I the only one that thinks the machine can be out to better use? … like etching the coolest Christmas card made out of 3mm acrylic with edge light ???

Moving right along…

(to be continue)
